Why we do cleaning :
Normal every component have the oily layer , without oily layer component get the rust ( oxide layer ). To avoid the rust during manufacturing , component manufacturers apply the oil or grease. When component reach at process floor that time also oil layer will be there. It may be in wet form or dry form . So Before the plating or phosphating or any other metal finishing process , we have to clean the oils, grease, dirt etc from that base component .

process like solvent cleaning, alkaline degreasing , acid cleaning etc .
depends on oil layer and finish requirement , but most popular, reliable and
less pollutant process is alkaline immersion degreasing process .
Before making the degreasing chemical bath
for cleaning , we have to choose the right chemistry base on following facts :

PROCESS :
When we dip the oiled
component in the degreasing bath , then component will get wet in the bath with
help of surfactants. Oils on surface
will emulsified in the presence of surfactants, who acts as emulsifier After
emulsification process , emulsion of oil will get saponified in the presence of
alkaline chemicals and component will get clean from oil .
